I found wonder around the corner Somewhere between the bright buzz of morning And the cooling of my evenings A constant trickle ruptured into abrupt endings It kept me sweating over deadline and drawbacks Interest and inflation The realization that my ticking clock failed to stop And so as weeks whip by And daylight died I cut the cord attached to my cordless And rode the old road past my address I broke out the boots that saw my dust in closets And found the closest thing to formless I broke out my old spirit like a pair of favorite jeans Realizing that the in-seam still knew me They carried me like a friend carries you At the end of your own rope Where waning youth meets fresh hope My eyes caught light off a thousand greens And drank in a thousand streams And my lungs thanked me for a change of pace A cut of light stitching the rock face Holding together the place I left work And make work And leave work to die alone Resurrected in a strange time zone I found wonder around the corner I left it somewhere between headphones and notifications Dead emails and invitations If you inclination is frustration Then change the goddamn station And leave the web of waves For another day If you’re holding on by your finger tips Scratching at the endless chaos Then pick up your pack and get lost Find your wonder around the corner Hold it tight Hold it longer Until the last light lingers And you find your soul again Untethered from your modern misery If this is where you were meant to be Then why does your heart long so greatly I chased wonder around the corner
